Fines, Overdues & Replacement Cost

Explanation of library fines, overdues and replacement cost.

Overdue fines accrue at $.10 per day for all materials except DVDs at $1.00 per day with a maximum fine of $10.00.  Patrons with fines in excess of $2.00 will not be allowed to check out additional materials, including computers, until the fine is paid or the fine is below $2.00.

Overdue Notices

Patrons with overdue items are called or notified by mail if they cannot be reach by telephone.  Two notices will be given.  If material is delinquent for two months, according to state law, legal action can be taken against the patron for the return of the material.  A certified letter will be sent, notifying the patron that legal action will be taken if the material is not returned or paid for by a certain date.

Patrons with overdue materials will not be able check out additional materials, including computers, without the approval of the Director or Assistant Director.

Damaged, Lost or Unreturned Materials

A replacement cost for all damaged, beyond reasonable wear, lost or unreturned materials will be charged to the patron.  The patron will be charged the cost of the material, plus a processing fee of $10.00 per item.  The replacement charge must be paid before the patron can check out any additional materials.
