Obtaining a Library Card at The Wilton Public Library

An individual library number will be issued to each patron using the library, regardless of age.  A parent or guardian needs to sign the registration card for children under the age of 14.  The automated systems allows patrons to check out materials by using their card or identifying themselves.  Staff may request proof of identity for patrons who do not have their card, or do not have their photo attached to their computer record.  Proof of identity and address (driver’s license, ID, piece of mail) will be required to register for a card.

Library carrying cards will be issued to anyone fourteen years of age and older who resides in Wilton, rural Muscatine County, or Cedar County residents who are part of the Wilton Community School District.  Open Access patrons may have the Wilton Public Library barcode attached to their home library card.  There is no charge for registering for a library card.

Temporary residents and visitors may request a guest card, which would be good for the duration of their stay, and with a limit of two items out at any time.  The guest card registration must include a local address and telephone number, preferably with the name of a permanent resident as a reference.

New patrons will be limited to two items at any time during the first thirty days.  Following this time, patrons abusing library privileges may be kept on another thirty-day probationary period at the discretion of the Director or Assistant Director.
